A Brief History
SOQUELEC and
its sister company, SOQUELEC Telecommunications, were founded
in 1974 by Jean-Pierre Slakmon and his late wife Yette Slakmon,
to whom our web pages are dedicated. From its humble beginnings
in the late seventies, SOQUELEC has grown to represent a wide
variety of manufacturers and to provide its customers with a full
range of quality products to meet their specific growing needs in
an environment of rapidly evolving technology.
What
We Do For You
SOQUELEC specializes
in the sales and service of scientific equipment
for applications in materials and life sciences
(with emphasis on electron microscopy and digital
imaging technology) and has been the exclusive
Canadian distributor of JEOL (Japan Electron Optics Laboratory)
for over 30 years.
SOQUELEC Telecommunications
specializes in the representation and distribution of RF, microwave
and millimeter-wave components. It is the exclusive Canadian representative
for internationally known manufacturers . SOQUELEC Telecommunications
is your Canadian liaison to foreign manufacturers and can provide
you with applications support and quotations.

& Technology
Mr. Slakmon was a co-founder and
Vice President of QRL Analysis Corp., a laboratory
offering analytical services
and consulting expertise in failure and destructive
physical analysis of electronic components with
applications related to the Canadian space program.
SOQUELEC
Ltd. was the co-founder of (CM)², Centre for Characterization
and Microscopy of Materials, a renowned non-profit Research oriented
Canadian corporation founded jointly by Ecole Polytechnique de
Montréal; corporate members include major industrial companies
such as Bell-Northern Research Ltd. (now Nortel), Canadian Marconi
Co., Spar Aerospace Limited, IBM Canada Ltd., Ontario Hydro and Pratt
& Whitney Canada Inc. Mr. Slakmon
was Chairman of
the Board of Directors of (CM)² from 1988 to 1993.
